Marc Lionel Gagnon
Marc Lionel Gagnon completed his pre-university studies in Quebec City and in the United States. After graduating from the University of Montreal, he obtained a Master’s degree in International Economics at the prestigious Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva.
His professional experience began in the Quebec engineering sector at Tecsult International, where he began his first international business development activities. But it was at the Caisse de Dépôt et Placement du Québec (CDPQ) that he was really exposed to the analysis of international markets and became aware of the extent of Canada's international financial activities.
After being recruited by the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs in 1999, he was based for 13 years in Spain allowing him to deepen his knowledge of the European commercial environment and Private Equity Investment. He was then involved in numerous Spanish investments in Canada (Natra, Cascajares, Redondo, Iberdrola) and had strong relation with Investissement Quebec. In 2014, he also opened the Madrid office of Cafa Corporate Financed, a Canadian M&A Boutique based in Montréal with representations in Toronto and Paris. He is now specializing in consulting European Companies interested in developing business and investing in Canada.
Cafa has had several Spanish customers including Airbus, Navantia, ACS / Cobra and Natra and works closely with the cities of Trois-Rivirères and St-Hyacinthe for their international development and search for investment projects at European level.
Marc is Executive and Board member of the Canada-Spain Chamber of commerce.
