May 8, 2024 - Ecostrat Inc., the Bioeconomy Development Opportunity (BDO) Zone Initiative and Bioindustrial Innovation Canada (BIC) have collaborated to launch the new Bioeconomy Development Opportunity Zone Self Assessment Toolkit (BDOSAT). This powerful online tool empowers communities, corporations, and governments across North America to quickly pre-assess regional readiness for biomanufacturing.
Jordan Solomon, CEO/President of Ecostrat Inc. and Chairman of the BDO Zone Initiative stated, “BDOSAT provides a preliminary BDO Zone ratings opinion. The information provided by BDOSAT empowers local economic developers to identify strengths and weaknesses in local biomass supply chains, enables more effective use of local biomass assets, and is a powerful first step in attracting new bio-based development.”
“The BDOSAT is a great tool for regionally based stakeholders to receive a preliminary BDO Zone rating opinion and get introduced into the international BDO Zone opportunity. This tool will not only help to shed light on Canada’s larger bioeconomy opportunity but will help identify investment attraction assets at a regional level that can support Canada’s industrial decarbonization.” stated, Meaghan Seagrave, Executive Director, Bioindustrial Innovation Canada (BIC).
BDOSAT is available at no cost and can be accessed on the BDO Zone website here.

About The BDO Zone Initiative
The BDO Zone Initiative certifies regional readiness for bio-based manufacturing, creates global connections with project developers, and ignites an influx of clean energy opportunities.
A BDO Zone rating is an internationally recognized standards-based technical risk assessment of biomass feedstock, supply chain, and infrastructure risk with respect to the development potential of new biofuel, renewable chemical, biogas, and bioproduct plants. Investment grade ratings attract new bio-based manufacturing plants to the areas where they are most likely to succeed-- and create jobs.
